We often have a powerful connection to items from the past, whether we enjoy the retro feel, or just think things worked better back in those days. One object that has had a big resurgence in recent years is the vinyl record, although those who buy them will argue that they never really died. Melbourne writer Matt Smith is an enthusiast isn’t afraid to boast about his complete collection of The Commodores on vinyl. He celebrated the recent Record Store Day by driving almost 700km to pick up a record player.
